We have approximately 16 active Explorers ages ranging from 14 to 18 and other kids interested in the program.  The program will continue through the age of 20 and then at 21, they are able join the Police Academy if they so desire.  Explorers are schooled in Police procedures and also get to partake in activities such as ride-a-longs and other practical application activities while in the meetings.  This program is for teens and young adults that are interested in becoming a Law Enforcement Officer or any other profession pertaining to Law Enforcement.  The information that they learn in the Explorer Program will carry over to their personal lives as well as if and when they join the Police Academy, at which time they will be training to be a certified Law Enforcement Officer.

The Explorers also help, or will soon be helping with several community service programs such as:

*  Pumpkin Festival, and at the Clayton Homes Trick or Treating. 2007 - 2008

*  Night of 1,000 stars were they practiced community policing activities. 2007 - 2008

*  Arlin Henderson’s Birthday celebration in at Fair Grounds Park. 2007

*  Life Point Church celebration. 2007

*  Safety Fair at 101 E. Hwy 47 Wal-Mart May 17, 2008. 

*  They will also be having fundraising events planned for the summer of 2008.

*  Participating in the Lincoln County Fair parade in July of 2007 - 2008.

*  Explorers also have assisted in the last DWI Check Point in 2007 - 2008

*  Law Enforcement youth training camp held at Babler State Park 2007 & 2009.

*  National Explorer Convention in Boulder CO. 2008 - 2010

*  Relay for Life at Clonts Field 2007 - 2008

*  Security at Gus Macker Basketball Tournament 2007 – 2008

*  National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation at Wal-Mart 2008

*  Participate in Ride-Alongs

*  Attend the St. Louis Area Law Enforcement Explorer Association meetings
