Live Fire Range Days
On 09-30-2007 the Explorers got to participate in firing live rounds at Bench Rest Gun Club in Warrenton MO. This day came after the safety course that started on 06-20-2007, and was taught by Sgt. Wayne Mueller, Officer Neil Pikulski, and Officer Charlie Smith. The explorers went through two months of classroom safety, and a month of shooting air-soft pistols and pellet pistols, to finally being able to live fire at the shooting range. The Explorers shot .22, .38, .40, and .45 caliber pistols, as well as shooting clay birds with 12 gauge shot guns. Extreme safety precautions were used during all firearms classes. Sgt. Mueller is one of the Troy Police Departments Firearms Instructors, one of the instructors for the Eastern Missouri Police Academy, and a 4-H small bore rifle instructor as well.
