Vacation Checklist Suggestions:
Ask a neighbor to check on your house daily and possibly retrieve newspapers, mail, or any other deliveries.
Have your neighbor bring out your trash receptacle on the appropriate days to give the illusion you are home.
If you feel it is OK, leave a key with the neighbor in case of an emergency.
Give your neighbor any phone numbers necessary in the case of an emergency.
Mow your lawn just before leaving or have it mowed if you are going to be gone for an extended period.
Use timers or dusk to dawn sensors on outside lights to come on at dark.
Use timers for inside lights to turn on and off at random times.
Have a radio on a timer to turn on and off at random times.
Have your phone forwarded to a phone number that can be answered or have an answering machine answer the incoming calls.
If you are leaving your car, leave it parked in the driveway.
Shut off any water connections that might possibly cause damage if they break while you are gone.
Check and lock all windows and doors just before you leave and set your home alarm if you have one.
Fill out above form and either submit electronically or print out and drop off at the Troy Police Department during normal business hours.
